Do You Want To Thrive Instead of Just Survive Over the Next While?

Mar 20, 2022

I'm going to get straight to the point of this email. If we are going to thrive and not merely survive if we are going to be led by inspiration instead of being driven by desperation over the next while we have got to let go of any limiting beliefs that limit our ability to be in complete partnership with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in our desires.

Believe it or not when your desires are clean, meaning they are in alignment for your highest good, God wants to give you what you desire.

However, the words God's will can trigger fear and distrust for some and that is where the breakdown in your relationship with Him starts.

My father was a very rigid, my way or highway kind of a guy, so you never went against his will without his wrath. Subconsciously, I believed God was like that as well.

Because of my poor relationship with my father, I didn’t like the words God’s will, and I didn’t want to pray to know God’s will because I felt that his will and my will would never be the same. If I knew and did his will then I would have to do things that I didn't like or want to do.

Karen Prier, in her book Understanding The Divine, Seven Laws To Improve Your Relationship With God,  taught me differently. Here’s how she explains desire…

“God doesn’t very often use the word agency, or free choice in scripture. He uses the word desire to help us see and understand what OUR POWER IS (emphasis added). Man replaced the word desire with agency, which is a bit more analytical, abstract, and scientific. This can diminish our understanding and the power of what we choose. Desire is a word used over and over again in the scriptures to help us understand God, the way He works, and the pattern He uses to help us progress. He calls our agency DESIRE.”

Here are a few of the examples she lists: Therefore, I say unto you, what things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye shall receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24) Follow after charity (which is the pure love of Christ), and desire spiritual gifts. (1 Cor. 14.1) The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous it shall be granted. (Proverbs 10:24)

“Desire is what God is governed by, both our desire and His. Our desire is our agency and our power. He doesn’t force us to desire anything; we always choose. God's desire is to help us find joy and receive glory, and He uses our desires to accomplish His goal of our joy and glory. If He didn’t, it wouldn’t last because we would eventually want to try something else and rebel. The nature of man is to want what we can’t have, so He gives us the option to choose whatever we want, hoping we’ll eventually see that He wants to give us the best gifts. This is the principle of desire/agency.  Understanding desire helps us see God as a loving Father and a tender parent instead of an angry demanding God.”

Understanding that God was really on my side, rooting for me, wanting me to be happy and fulfilled, and realizing that what would cause me to feel happy and fulfilled are the very things that light me up was a huge turning point for me. I now saw that my desire to empower others to live their purpose and develop their own gifts and talents so they can live their inspired, abundant and fulfilling life was also His desire! And working together in partnership with Him is the quickest and easiest way to make my/our desire happen!

So my friends, if we are going to stay out of fear and not do dumb things like buy massive amounts of toilet paper that we really don't need that actually hurt the economy down the road, then we must align our will WITH God's and increase our desire to live inspired. Inspiration creates empowerment and kicks fear in the backseat so that it isn't driving our thoughts and decisions.

Next week, I will share how God's grace works in our lives to help us receive our desires so stay tuned.
